Perth CBD Beckons with Free Wifi in the Resources Quarter
What a great initiative of the Resources Sector to launch a free wifi service for everyone. It’s a great service that a lot of people will find very useful, whether you are a local, traveller, student or shopper visiting the Perth CBD.
ResourcesNet was launched in June 2007 by the Resources Sector by key sponsors BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Woodside.
As mentioned in Resources Net, "Perth will be the first city in the world to have a specific resources precinct within its central business district." (page 2 of Resources Net)
It provides a service which allows workers, shoppers, students, and holiday makers to access the internet for free in the Western End of the CBD.
Dubbed the "Resources Quarter", the location of this free wifi facility is the West end of the city which is the headquarters of many of the resource giants. It is bounded West from William Street along St Georges Tce, Hay Street and Murray Street and up to the Barracks Arch near Parliament.
As a user looking to use the free wi-fi service, Perth Walkabout has summarised for you the key points mentioned by Resources Net in relation to the use of free wi-wfi in the Perth CBD:
- It’s available within the Resources Quarter;
- ResourcesNet extends up St Georges Terrace, west from William Street to the Barracks Arch near Parliament House; and from Hay Street, south to Mounts Bay Road;
- It’s available 24 hours 7 days a week;
- Anyone can now log on to the Internet, via a wireless-enabled laptop computer or PDA;
- As with any Internet Service Provider, individual users need to accept the terms and conditions of use at log-on, and remaining fully responsible for their actions and the material they access.
