As the international debate on book versus e-book continues to rage on, Perth’s bookshops offer a quiet place to ride out the storm for the diehards amongst us that cannot imagine a life minus the turn of a page.
Okay, I understand the benefits for the planet and my hip pocket that the e-book offers, but call me old-fashioned; I just can’t resist a good bookshop.
Perhaps it is the smell, or the “sequestered nooks” that American poet Longfellow wrote about, but a trip to a bookshop is still considered one of life’s great pleasures for this gal.
Albany: A Top Spot by the Sea Set Amidst the Whoosh of the Wind Farm

The town of Albany, located on the south west coast of Western Australia, has grown up a lot these days. It was a relatively quiet seaside town a couple of decades ago. Today its township is bustling, as it continues to expand to meet the needs of its residents.
Getting to Albany is quite a straight forward journey. It takes around 4.5 to 5 hrs to drive there, and it is literally one straight road travelling along Albany Highway.
As a young kid growing up in Perth my family used to visit Albany during the long summer holidays, and we had a lot of fun doing holiday stuff such as enjoying the beautiful beaches, cooking up delicious meals, and exploring Albany's coast.
Swan Valley - A Rich Mix of Art, Wine, Food and Culture

The Swan Valley is a region of land about 25-minutes east of the centre of Perth that is famous for its mix of wineries, farmland, natural bush, historical buildings, scenic rivers and the promise of an unforgettable day out.
It also holds the enviable reputation as being Western Australia’s oldest wine growing region as well as the closest wine region to any city in the world.
The town of Guildford, a short 12 km from the centre of Perth as you head towards the hills, is the gateway to the valley and well worth a visit if you have time on your journey.

Blast Off in Bull Creek

Bull Creek (also written as Bullcreek) is a white collar southern suburb of Perth about 15km from the city, roughly a 20 minute drive down Kwinana Freeway (exit at South Street) or an easy train ride down the Mandurah line. Bull Creek was first developed during the 1960s and 70s and named after early settler Henry Bull.
Bull Creek isn’t wild or fancy but it typifies the homey suburban lifestyle that attracts families to the area and is equipped with everything you need.
Working Holiday In Perth - The West is the Best

If you’re planning a working holiday, Perth is an excellent place to choose. When I told people on the East Coast that I was going to head to Perth for work, most folks told me that finding work would be near impossible and living costs were much more expensive, so I’d be much better off staying on the East Coast. But my mind was made up and I headed out to Perth anyway. I’m sure glad I did. It turned out to be the easiest of all the places I went to find work and living costs were proportional to my wages.
