If you are looking for something different to do with your kids in Perth that won’t cost you the earth then consider a visit to the science centre Scitech.
Science may not be considered the coolest subject at school but Scitech makes it both fun and educational for the young and the young at heart. It is a great place for children to learn through play.

As you go about your day, you may be lucky enough to see some buskers, or street entertainers, doing their best to add some life to the city. It might be a sketch artist or a pair of jugglers today; a family singing and playing folk songs tomorrow. Common busking activities include music, circus tricks, dance, mime, comedy, and visual art such as paintings. A hat, box or musical instrument case typically invites passers-by to leave their tips.

Edith Cowan University is one of five universities in Perth and you may well ask what a city the size of Perth is doing with so many universities. In ECU's case, it actually started life as a bunch of separate teachers' colleges, dating way back to 1902 when the Claremont Teachers College was established.
It became a "proper university" back in 1991 and over the years has consolidated its campuses, now having two in the Perth area at Joondalup and Mount Lawley, and one a couple of hours south of Perth in Bunbury.

Many visitors head to Australia for our curious wildlife and for those coming to Perth, I always highly recommend a trip to the Caversham Wildlife Park in Whiteman Park. It's a well set-out park with caring, knowledgeable staff and it gives visitors the opportunity to see many Australian animals in relatively natural settings, and even to have some interaction with them.
