Inside the Edith Spiegeltent at Cathedral Square, magic, mystery and mayhem awaits – none other than the mesmerising members of La Soirée.
La Soirée has amazed audiences around the world, bringing their show from the West End in London to Perth for the 3rd year running at Fringe World Perth. They are back by popular demand – and very popular indeed judging by the sold out crowd eagerly waiting with drinks in hand for the show to begin.
Amidst a buzz of pre show excitement, the performance began on the small centre stage which looked no more than a couple of metres wide. This year sees a hot line up of amazingly diverse performers, each incredibly skilled at their art after having honed their acts over many years.
Blues singer Acantha Lang from New Orleans entertained the crowd with her sexy vocals and powerful renditions of a number of songs including Freedom.
Captain Frodo was up to his usual antics – in fine form, and in fine shape, contorting and manoeuvring himself through his tennis racquets. It gives a whole new meaning to “New balls please!”.
Hamish McCann was a hit with the audience, especially with the ladies, judging by their reaction to his elegant, athletic and all so sensuously smooth pole act.
Valeria Murzak dazzled with her glitter ball gymnastics, bringing both beauty and balance along with a dash of brawn to her moves on a surface most of us couldn't even get on, let alone do handstands on.
Special mention for a fabulous performance by Perth’s own aerialist Sam Smith who fitted seamlessly into the show, executing her aerialist act with poise and power.
Satya Bella made hula hoops look cool in a whirlwind of swirling circles and flashing LEDs. She is a one person light show!
Fit and taut looking gymnast Bret Pfister swung, dived, strutted, and manoeuvred airborne across his ring trapeze – truly nothing else mattered as he took the audience on his aerial journey.
The finale of the show, the high octane roller skating duo of Leo and Ursula are 1st timers to Perth and what these two can do on roller skates has to be seen to be believed. People in the front row are encouraged to bring a crash helmet!
La Soirée have triumphed once again in Perth, it is no surprise that many of the appreciative audience (including ourselves) were attending their third year in a row.
With a mix of not so old favourites and fresh new faces, La Soirée are frantic, fun, and more than just a little bit naughty!
