It's been quite a feverish activity of plays and more plays in Perth this month for lovers of theatre. You can catch the last few days of the Independent Theatre Festival which has been running since mid March and will end on the 12th April 2014. The Independent Theatre Festival is an inaugural event brought to us by the Perth Theatre Trust and the Subiaco Arts Centre. For the remainder of this festival, catch the last two plays - The Little Mermaid and Crash Course at the Subiaco Arts Centre.

The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid follows the key character Grace as she takes us on a journey to many places. The dance play focuses on the central themes of escaping and finding your place in life, whether that be on dry land or in the dark depths of the ocean.

"The Little Mermaid is a fantastic exploration of fantasy versus reality, and Sinclair and his team have created an imaginatively bittersweet treat." Australian Stage

This is a reworking of Hans Christian Andersen’s dark fairytale the Little Mermaid through dance theatre. The Little Mermaid is produced by Houston Sinclair, directed by Ian Sinclair, and features Georgia King and Jacinta Larcombre. This dance theatre performance will be showing from the 9th to 12th of April starting at 7:30pm.

Crash Course

The award-winning artist James Berlyn, brings his highly acclaimed theatre show Crash Course to Subiaco Arts Centre. James Berlyn has featured in Tawdry Heartburn's Manic Cures and is the co-founder of the Proximity Festival.

The setting for this play is in the form of a language class gone wrong! Expect a whole lot of fun and laughter as you watch this 60 minute performance. Crash Course is brought to us by Performing Lines - an independent and local theatre and dance group based in Perth.

The performance of Crash Course will be showing from the 9th to 12th of April starting 6:30pm at The Rehearsal Room at the Subiaco Arts Centre.

Take the opportunity to be entertained by talented perfomers at the last few days of the Independent Theatre Festival.
