Fun Things to do in Perth this Summer

Fun-things-to-do-in-Perth-this-Summer

The weather is sunny, the beach looks enticing, and the outdoor festivals out and around Perth are off and running.

It’s time to get out and about to enjoy summer in Perth.

Here is our wrap of favourite things to do in Perth this Summer:

Scarborough Sunset Markets

A beautiful spot to check out market stalls and grab a bite to eat whilst watching the sunset at Scarborough Beach, the Scarborough Sunset Markets run every Thursday evening from 5pm to 9pm. Boasting a plethora of scrumptious food, arts and craft stalls, and live music, it’s the place to be on Thursday evenings. It’s also dog friendly which is a plus!

Perth Festival Lotterywest Films

The Perth Festival Lotterywest films are just around the corner with opening night on 20 November. The gang at Charlie’s Pizza are warming up their wood-fired ovens to make their delish pizza at the UWA Somerville Theatrette and the line up of art house and international movies looks awesome.

Check out the Perth Festival movie program and head down to UWA. Enjoy a picnic BYO or grab a pizza from Charlie’s Pizza before sitting down under the beautiful canopy of pine trees to relax and enjoy a movie.

Tuesday evenings are discount ticket night where you can get tickets for the price of two for one. Great value!

In addition to the Perth Festival movies, the rest of the Perth Festival program runs from 9 February to 3 March.

Fringe Festival

OK - this one doesn’t kick off until 19 January. But this doesn’t stop Fringe mad festival goers from getting ready for the big fringe fest in Perth (currently the 3rd largest Fringe fest in the world).

Sign up as a member of the Friends of Fringe Festival to receive special offers, and view the program ahead of the big event (which has hundreds of shows on offer) to book your tickets.

Check the sizzling hot scale to see what kind of show you will be watching and whether to leave the kids at home (if its a bit too sizzling hot on the sizzling hot show scale).

Visit The Pleasure Garden in Northbridge and the Urban Orchard at the Perth Cultural Centre to have a pre show drink before watching a fringe show. As we know anything goes at Fringe!

Hit the Beach

There are really too many beautiful beaches in Perth to choose a favourite. So take a drive up the Sunset Coast and stop off wherever a spot takes your fancy. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes along the way to have a pit stop, or to take a swim.

Don’t forget to bring along your trusty Tesalate beach towel for a sand free beach experience.

Day Trips

Drive up the Coral Coast and enjoy stop offs at Yanchep, Guilderton, Lancelin, Sea Bird, Port Denison, Geraldton etc. It’s an easy drive up the north coast and its short enough to make a day trip from Perth out of it, or book ahead to stay overnight at any of these beautiful little towns.

It’s going to be a sizzling hot summer in Perth so get your swim togs, beach towel and sunscreen and enjoy the best of what Perth has to offer.
