When attending Fringe World Perth performances, the alternative and offbeat is to be expected, but Tyler Jacob Jones and Erin Hutchinson of Holland St Productions take it to a whole new level with their cabaret What Doesn't Kill You [blah blah] Stronger, which sets some of the strangest survival tales from around the world to song.
It was a full house that filled the Big Top for the opening show of By a Thread, the physics-defying Fringe World Festival show by Melbourne-based circus One Fell Swoop.
Six performers entered wearing non-descript grey and white attire that belied the spectacle we were about to witness. Like the name “By a Thread” suggests, the ropes suspended from the ceiling were as integral to the show as its people were.
"Film Stars don’t die in Liverpool" is a story set in the 1970’s about the passionate romance between Hollywood film star Gloria Grahame (Annette Bening) and young actor Peter Turner (Jamie Bell).
In the movie what begins as a light hearted romance deepens into a strong and enduring bond that spans over many decades. Based on the memoir by Peter Turner, the movie flits between the past and the present – as it follows the blossoming relationship between Gloria and Peter.
In A Fantastic Woman, Chilean transgender actress Daniela Vega plays Marina Vidal, a young singer and waitress.
She lives with her partner, business owner Orlando (Francisco Reyes), in his apartment.
Orlando is old enough to be Marina’s father but despite the age gap, the two are very much in love.
The much anticipated feel good movie Finding your Feet which premiered at the 2017 Cunard British Film Festival is now showing at Luna Palace cinemas around Perth.
We are introduced to the main character Sandra, living a nice middle class wealthy existence, recently honoured with the title “Lady”, whose world is suddenly turned upside down when she discovers her husband’s infidelity.
After three sell-out seasons at Fringe World Perth, the creators of La Soirée could be forgiven for sticking with a winning formula and bringing La Soirée 4.0 to Perth in 2018, no doubt to further packed houses.
But what would be the fun in that? Introducing Club Swizzle, which takes out the small circus ring and introduces a combined bar and runway for the performers to jump, strut, roll, spin and prowl upon.
