The film adaptation of Jasper Jones had a lot to live up to.
Craig Silvey’s award-winning novel is a much-loved modern classic that has been described as “an Australian To Kill a Mockingbird”.
I went into the preview screening of the film with some apprehension about how it would stack up against the book, but in the end, I needn’t have worried.
Set in Corrigan, a fictional WA town in the 1960s, Jasper Jones is the coming-of-age story of Charlie Bucktin (Levi Miller).

After the success of his cabaret show Twists and Turns, and with a published biography of the same name under his belt, Matthew Mitcham is in Perth to perform at the Fringe World Festival.
In his new “Under the Covers” production he delights and entertains audiences with his funny anecdotes and observations on life as a professional athlete who achieved fame and glory as the no 1 diving champion in the world and who brought home gold for Australia at the 2008 Olympics held in Beijing, before retiring just 6 months before the 2016 Rio Olympics.

I was lucky enough to catch Red Dog True Blue with some friends at the outdoor Community cinemas at Burswood Parklands.
A heartwarming tale that will appeal to dog lovers, it follows the story of a young boy Mick (Levi Miller) staying with his grandfather up in his cattle station in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The story switches between past and present - narrated by Mike as a grown man, recounting his time spent with his grandfather as a young boy.

…A whole lot, and more - as we discovered while watching a stunning performance of By a Thread by the One Fell Swoop Circus group at the Fringe World Festival in Perth.
Making their debut in Perth, the circus artists packed their bags and took a road trip to get here from Melbourne. It has also turned out to be quite an adventure for audiences in Perth who have been lucky enough to watch these amazing aerialists.

Having thoroughly enjoyed Holland St Productions Gutenberg! The Musical in late 2016, my partner and I were looking forward to their Fringe World performance of Dr. Felicity Rickshaw's Celebrity Sex Party, at the Flaming Locomotive in the State Theatre Centre.
Upon entering the room, we were greeted by the sight of Dr Felicity Rickshaw hard at work on her laptop, no doubt in the midst of composing another erotic epic.
