The Woodvale Tavern tags itself as “Your local British Pub in the heart of Woodvale.”

Having never been to an actual pub in Britain (or anywhere in Britain for that matter, but it’s on my bucket list) I can’t tell a newcomer from the UK how it compares to home.

But many British expats choose to make a new home in the Woodvale area, which is about a half hour drive north from the Perth CBD.

Feast of International Movies at the 2013 Perth Film Festival

The Perth film festival is back and locals are enjoying a smorgasbord of films as part of the Perth International Arts Festival 2013.


Shown at two locations in Perth – the Somerville Theatre at UWA and Joondalup Pines at Edith Cowan University, the festival films are a popular annual event that Perthites look forward to each year.

This year, the festival film season kicked off on the 25 November 2012 and will run till the 14 April 2013.

On a fine summer’s Friday night I set off with a friend to check out the Perth Twilight Hawkers Market.

If you have a penchant for foodie events, the markets are a fun event showcasing food from cuisines around the world, cooked by locals.

Now in its second year, the event is organised by the City of Perth and is being held in Forrest Chase.

The Twilight Hawker Markets run from December through to April so get your butt on down there to enjoy some tasty food.

This popular Northern suburb comes packed with great beaches, schools, local shops and some great fishing spots.   Not to mention an excellent selection of local and award winning restaurants.
