Heathcote Reserve - Top Spot for a Family Day Out

Point Heathcote Reserve in Applecross is made up of picturesque gardens and heritage buildings, overlooking the Swan River and the Perth cityscape in the distance. Once the site of Heathcote Mental Reception Home, it is now a heritage listed open space for the public to enjoy. Challenger TAFE also has a campus on Heathcote Reserve and manages the Kitchen Building and Swan House.

Following on from the article on Kalamunda Circuit, featured below are a series of photos showing interesting things captured during the walk.

As you walk the Kalamunda Circuit, you will pass through a mixture of flora including Eucalypts, Dryandra, Grass trees, Acacias and Banksias. For those with an interest in flora, you should be able to spot some colourful wildflowers and other interesting flora on your walk.

Hit the Surf in Perth

Australia boasts some of the greatest surf breaks in the world and is home to many successful international surfers, both men and women.

With 90 km of coastline, the city of Perth has its fair share of great surf spots and a lot to offer the beginner and the more experienced.

If you are new to Australia and to the sport of surfing, take a trip to the closest beach on the west coast and you will soon realise that a lot of West Australians surf. All ages, all levels of experience, all-year-round.

Kings Park Boab and Grass Trees

Take a detour off the Law Walk in Kings Park to view the wondrous ancient Boab trees. What do these Boab trees look like? They have bulbous trunks that are disproportionate to the rest of their structure. They are also referred to as bottle trees and are a relative of the African Adansonia species of Baobabs. What a tongue twister!

Kings Park Law Walk

The Law Walk is a popular walk in Kings Park and can be combined with visiting the LotteryWest Federation Walkway as it is on the same side of the park.

It is easy to moderate in difficulty and can be accessed via several entry points. One starting point is to commence the walk at Rotunda 1.
