Anyone for a musical centered on the theme of politics?
An interesting topic choice for a night of songs, my partner and I thought, as we headed into the State Theatre Centre of WA to watch Black Swan State Theatre Company’s latest extravaganza - “Clinton – the Musical”.
Fresh off the New York Times Critics Pick and nominations for Best New Musical, Clinton is a clever night of music and song crafted by Australian playwriters, Paul Hodge and Michael Hodge.

Haunting squeals and whistles echoed around the room as the audience descended into the theatre for the opening night of A Perfect Specimen.
On a dimly lit, two-tiered circular stage stood three A-frames, featuring provocative headlines like Behold! The Monkey Woman.
Then Theodore Lent (played by Luke Hewitt) emerged from the curtains, tapped his cane sharply on the ground and – in an ominous, booming voice – invited us to the show.
A Perfect Specimen, by Perth-born award-winning playwright Nathaniel Moncrieff, is inspired by the true story of Julia Pastrana.

On a raining Saturday morning in Perth, I stepped into the cinema in Leederville looking forward to watch the Australian movie Goldstone.
Goldstone is Ivan Sen’s latest Australian thriller, a spin off from his movie Mystery Road.
The movie revolves around the goings on in a mining town – behind the seemingly quiet life of a remote town in outback Australia, what you see is not necessarily what you get behind the scenes.
